Deena is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center with a specialty certification in otorhinolaryngology nursing. Her extensive healthcare career has included experience in diverse areas of nursing, including renal and metabolic, critical care, otolaryngology and nursing education. She also has been providing care to children and adults as a nurse practitioner for 18 years in both primary and acute care settings. Deena graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1971. After four years on active duty in the Army Nurse Corps, Deena obtained her Masters of Nursing degree from the University of Colorado. In 1998, she returned to Marymount University for a post masters certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Deena is a past president of the Northern Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and recently assumed the presidency of the Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Nurses. She lives with her husband, Boyd, and enjoys scrapbooking, silk flower arranging, playing golf and spending time with her four granddaughters.
